I have to say, we are absolutely having a blast this summer in the Mostly Homemade Mom house! Since we had our big vacation in May, we're pretty much staying put these summer months - but that doesn't mean we're not planning on fun, that's for sure.
My boys are obsessed with science and I LOVE it. They had seen a few science experiment videos on Facebook as they look over at my phone while I'm scrolling through and that gave me a good idea. The week before school let out, I went over to Pinterest and pinned all sorts of fun and easy backyard science activities, and then bought all the supplies at the dollar store. Our summer activity supplies are stored in a box on our kitchen counter. Every week day, in order for us to do a fun science activity after dinner, the boys have to complete two review worksheets and read for at least 15 minutes. I have to say, this plan has worked like a charm! Plus, you can't beat more learning activity as an incentive for even more reading and learning!
Having all the supplies already bought and ready to go has been a huge timesaver as well - plus it serves as a visual incentive for them to get the work done they need to do in order to have some fun time later in the day. Win-win!
